  1. Howdy, Patrick.
I enjoyed reading the interview above, and learning a bit more about you, as well as what goes on “behind the scenes” in Hollywood.
All the best. May you enjoy a myriad more acting jobs!
Please let me know when you come down to Pennsylvania for your next project there, since I live only about an hour south of Gettysburg and perhaps we can might be able to get together and share a drink.
    Best,
    Julio

    • Julio,

Hopefully some time this summer, my friend. Trust you and the family are doing well. It was nice of Greg to ask me about GETTYSBURG and GODS & GENERALS. Fun.

      Take care.
      Patrick

  2. Greetings Patrick; I still don’t understand what makes a star a star and a journeyman not a star. With all your credits and talent You are a Star. Great interview.

    • Thanks for that, Bill. The public has to answer that question – and they do. Your support and good words are much appreciated. Hey, who knows? It’s never too late – and besides – what else am I going to do but pursue my craft and my dream.

      Have a great week.
      Thanks again.
      Patrick

  3. Hello Patrick,
I know you’ve probably heard this a hundred(or even a million) times but I’ve seen both ‘Gettysburg’ and ‘Gods and Generals’ and I can’t think of anyone who could have captured the essence of General Hood any better than you did. As a Civil War reenactor myself, I can tell you that what I’ve seen of your portrayal of Gen. Hood is just about what I would have imagined him to be despite the differences in your actual physical appearance.
I hope that one day I have the opportunity to see you and possibly meet you in person at an event. On another note, as your interviewer stated in the article, you approve all of your Facebook requests personally. I did not know this which makes the fact that you approved my request all the more special for me as a reenactor. You have a standing invitation to ‘fall in’ with us any time! Continued success in all you do!

    • Mark,

The re-enactors have ‘made my day’ – and these last few years. I owe a debt of gratitude to the re-enactors I met, especially during the filming of KILLER ANGELS. So, you know I am honored by your evaluation. That counts a lot. Yes, I’m still about 500 friend requests behind on Facebook but I do answer each one with acknowledgement AND a request. Won’t bother you with that here but you’ll find out. Thanks for your support. Stay healthy and stay in touch.

      Patrick

  4. Gorman had a bit role in Stephen Seagal’s 1988 movie, Above the Law. Too bad Seagal’s character knocked him out quickly. It would have been nice to see the two martial artists go at it.

If The Last Full Measure ever gets made, it would be nice to see Gorman come back as another character.

    • Chuck,

I’m laughing. Seagal sensei would have killed me!!! I’m still training and it is an important part of my life. Martial arts have taught me a lot about acting – and life. I no longer train with Seagal sensei but I continue with Haruo Matsuoka sensei who was almost ‘brought up’ in his dojo in Japan and here before Seagal became a movie star.

I’m pursuing roles in other Civil War projects along with the rest of my career. Who knows what I’ll play next? I just was Poseidon, the God of the Sea – in a commercial no less!!! Fun. You just never know in this business.

      Thanks for your comments.
      Patrick

  5. We all love your work Patrick and very much hope to see more of you on the screen soon! Would love to see more Civil War films with you in them! Heck I think we all would just like to see you in any historical films! Glad to have you for a friend on Facebook and we certainly will be watching for you. If your ever in Northern GA look us up, would love to sit by the fire and have some great conversation with you.

  6. Will,

Nothing is impossible and sitting around the fire with some good whiskey and a fine cigar and even better conversation is something to look forward to.

    Thanks for the offer.

  7. Greg, Great interview with Patrick. I know many of the folks involved with both films; Ron Maxwell, Patric Falci, Jim Choate and others and I know everyone always speaks so highly of “Gen. Hood”. Patrick is often seen around Gettysburg and people always want to shake his hand. I am actually reading through a couple scripts ( I am a director) that have to do with the Battle of Franklin – would love to get in touch with Patrick and send him one of these to read over. If you could get word to him that I would like to send him a script that would be great. And even if Patrick catches this comment – feel free to contact me directly. Keep up the great work!

  8. Greg yes, let me know whenever there is a response. I don’t check your blog every day and I might miss responding to someone and I respect everyone’s time, believe me. Thanks again and stay in touch. Get lots of good comments on the interview and use it as a PR tool, when appropriate. Thanks again.
    Patrick

    • No problem Patrick. I have forwarded your email to Rob (didn’t think you would mind). I also mailed those pictures to you a few days ago so hopefully they will arrive shortly.

  9. Patrick,

Great interview! One question I have is if you will be participating in – or at least attending – the special one-time-only panel discussion/premiere event for the director’s cut of GODS AND GENERALS down in Manassas, VA in July?

Hope to hear from ya, sir.

    Jake

  10. Greg, as a long time fan of both Gettysburg (I read the Killer Angels in the late 70′s) and Gods & Generals, I really enjoyed this interview with Mr. Gorman. I was a Civil War reenactor back in the 80′s and unfortunately was not available to partcipate in these fine films. Thank you for sharing, Mr. Gorman.

  11. Honored to have Pratrick among my Facebook friends. An actor with REAL talent and truly loved by the reenacting community. Hope to work with him personally, one day.
