We all knew that the Dolan’s and MSG Ownership did not care one iota for fans regardless of the teams and the product put forth on the respective hockey rink and basketball court, but what we have learned today, is that apparently, they don’t care about the health of their fans either.
In this shocking report from ESPN, it says the following about Madison Square Garden:
But at Madison Square Garden — home of the NHL’s Rangers, NBA’s Knicks and WNBA’s Liberty — 61 percent of vendors were cited with violations. At one stand, inspectors found “53 mouse excreta” (38 on top of a metal box underneath the cash registers in the front food-prep/service area and 15 on top of a carbonated-beverage dispensing unit), according an inspection-report excerpt.
This is not some privately owned, backwoods arena in the middle of East Bumblefuck we’re talking about here, but a sports complex owned by one of the richest families in America, smack dab in the middle of New York City. The so called “Mecca of Sports” can now call itself the “Mecca of Filth”.
Can we really be surprised about this? No, not really, because this is the Dolan’s we are talking about here. Although they do not directly work at the vendors (try picturing Jim Dolan serving hot dogs to people), they are still to blame for this health fiasco.
This may look like some minor event, but it’s really not and should be put right out there with other news in the hockey world. This is not an incident of someone misplacing a milk product in a refrigerator made for meat products, but instances of mouse crap right in the food prep area and right under our noses near the cash registers.
Imagine that, a mouse defecating on a $6 hot dog, or maybe urinating in a $9.75 cup of beer. (And after seeing those prices, the mouse does not seem to phase me at all.)
I have always been against building a new MSG, but maybe this one needs to be torn down, displacing horrific memories of it’s sports teams, and now of its failure to care about the quality of the food they sell, and the health of their fans.
Meanwhile, we all love to make fun of Nassau Coliseum, but they were actually one of the better kept arenas in all of New York. Hats off to them.
