About the Author

Greg Caggiano is a published author, historian, and lecturer. He holds a degree in history from New Jersey City University. Since 2014, Greg has worked as an instructor for Brookdale Community College in their Lifelong Learning department. There he offers lectures and courses on different historical topics, such as the American Civil War, early American political history, the assassinations of Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy, witchcraft and the inquisition in early modern Europe, the history of liquor, and legends, folklore, and paranormal investigating. A web-series he hosts with friends, “Ghosts on the Coast”, features videos of these investigations. He also works as a field guide for Brookdale’s Ocean Institute on Sandy Hook (Gateway National Recreation Area), which focuses on local marine life, maritime history, and the history of the US Military’s presence at Fort Hancock.

In his spare time, Greg serves on the Board of Directors of the Atlantic Highlands Historical Society, which is housed at the Strauss Mansion Museum. His first book, published in the fall of 2014, detailed the legends and hauntings surrounding the historic Victorian mansion. His writing has been featured in the New Jersey history magazine Garden State Legacy, where he contributed journal articles titled, Governor William Franklin and the Price of Dissent and The Invented History of The Spy House. He has also been quoted in the New York Daily News, New York Times, Lancaster New Era, and Asbury Park Press. Greg was given an acknowledgement in The Great Expansion: The Ultimate Risk that Changed the NHL Forever, a book by Alan Bass, and his work cited in The Anatomy of Competition in Sports by Christopher Doob. Non-writing related, he is an avid hockey fan, coaching the sport at several schools and institutions since 2007.
